Health & Politics.

The link between autism and the MMR vaccine has been pretty comprehensively discredited. I realise that it is hard to imagine that a study published by the Lancet would turn out to be such complete crap but there you go.

In politics however the empirical reality is that facts matter much less than public perception, and seeing as the anti MMR lobby is organised and motivated whereas the supporters of MMR are generally apolitical this means that all three of the remaining candidates for US president are willing to pander to the scaremongers.

The scientific evidence here is pretty clear yet the controversy has caused levels of vaccination to fall off and by not challenging the supposed MMR autism link all the candidates have demonstrated that they are willing to endanger the citizens whom they seek to serve and lead in order to get elected.

Where the political backlash against vaccination is even greater in some parts of world than in the West, it has enabled diseases that were on the cusp of being eliminated, like Polio, to make strong resurgences and it has left a lot of children severely disabled for life. For the three main aspirants to become the most powerful person on the planet to fuel this backlash for votes is disgusting.

with Autism a 1 in 100 in the UK to simply dismiss the vaccination connection on studdies paid for by govermant and the Drug companies is a bit silly.

The surpression of the poling case in the UK speaks volumes.
take a look at the cryshame website and you will see that Horton of the Lancet has been telling lies about his involvement for 10 years.
measles Vaccine has killed 4 children in India and caused riots in Mumbia in the last week.
NOT reported in the uk
take a look at this story

Think vacinnes safe enough for your child?? or perhaps like me you would like all the information so you can make an informed choice.

Why would the drug companies care whether they were providing the triple vaccine or individual vaccines? They get paid either way.

The stories you cite don't change the fact that the best evidence is that vaccination is essential for tackling infectious diseases. That four children in India died due improperly administered vaccines is tragic but it says very little about the safety of vaccines themselves. The number of children killed in India due to the lack of vaccines is far greater than that.

Hi ross
I agree that in India the risks from measles and other deasases make vaccines necessary, but in the UK its a different story with only 1 death in recent history (a boy with a long term lung condition).

"studdies paid for by govermant and the Drug companies is a bit silly."

My point with the polin case is that this will start a massive legal attack on the drug companies ,i suspect they have know for years that a proportion of children are damaged by vaccines.

my child developed "autistic like symtoms" after MMR ,he had the same high fever lasting several days.
Can I prove it was MMR ?, of course not, but it is a coincidence reported by many parents.
we have spent the last 3 years trying to get his bowel problems adressed, but no Gastro's in the UK want to treat our kids in case they get a kicking like Wakefield.

The Wakefield case is laughable, a journalist has bought this case, one that will never have to make the choices to vaccinate (as he is gay). No parents have complained , Horton of the lancet knew about the legal aid, Wakefield did have the correct ethical approval. the case is full of holes.

The press bits
The child who died a three months after MMR,,this story is wrong as children don't get MMR till 12-13 months. so how can this be natural causes?
I suspect it is related to the other two stories I included but has been mis-reported or the inquest has been the subject of a cover-up.

In June thousands of parents who suspect vaccines have damage their kids are going to march on Washington lead by jenny McCarthy (BABE) lets see if this gets reported in the UK.
for the establishment in the UK regarding vaccination
No news is good news.

That's not quite a true picture you present - I'm not against vaccination just the MMR 3 in 1 vaccine. This is about money not protecting children; the government need only make the single jabs available - you can't get them even if willing to pay.

I am sorry to hear that, however isn't the age at which autism becomes possible to diagnose similar to the age at which the MMR is given?

Philipa- Although I don't agree with you regarding the MMR jabs, I do think that the refusal of the government to allow single jabs to be used instead by concerned parents is bizarre, because the single jabs are clearly better than having no vaccinations.
